¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ Marching Band to share the spotlight with Snoop Dogg at the Arizona Bowl
While the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ football team prepares to face Colorado State University in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl Presented by Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop, the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ Marching Band is preparing for a different aspect of the game; performing alongside music icon Snoop Dogg at halftime of the bowl game on Saturday, Dec. 28, in Tucson, Arizona.
Kicking off at 4:30 p.m. ET in Arizona Stadium and broadcast on The CW Network, both the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ Marching Band and Colorado State University Marching Band will perform at halftime in collaboration with Snoop Dogg.
“Obviously, the opportunity for our ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs to perform at halftime with Snoop Dogg presents a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and one that the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs are extremely excited about,” said marching band director Ryan Yahl, D.M., “This will be no small undertaking, especially with transporting the band and equipment out to Tucson, and then having to learn whatever Snoop decides he would like to do with the two marching bands while neither are able to have regular rehearsals with the conclusion of the fall semester.”
The ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ Marching Band (MUMB), represents a diverse cross-section of the Miami community. Members of the MUMB come from every division and almost every major at the university. Music majors represent approximately 25% of the group. Membership is for all woodwind, brass, battery, and keyboard percussion, color guard, twirlers, and Shakerettes. Comprising over 235 ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ musicians, the band has been a source of entertainment and RedHawk spirit for decades, performing across the nation and supporting Miami’s athletic teams with passion and precision.
“None of this would be possible without the help and support of the university administration, the administrative leadership of the College of Creative Arts and Department of Music, and the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs and staff of the MUMB who work hard to represent ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ,” Yahl said.
Miami is entering its 16th all-time bowl appearance with an 8-5 record and plenty of momentum, having advanced to the MAC Championship Game for the third time since 2019.
