From open houses and silent auctions benefitting scholarships to a pair of signature events, ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ’s Family Weekend offers a unique glimpse into campus life.
Held Oct. 24-26, this year’s Family Weekend features a headline performance by Seth Meyers, host of NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” on Oct. 24, followed by the RedHawks’ football team hosting Western Michigan on Oct. 25 at Yager Stadium.
There are a host of activities throughout the weekend, including M.O.V.E. Bootcamp with University Ambassador Dr. Renate Crawford and Miami President Gregory Crawford; Classic Movie Fridays; open houses at the Myaamia Center and the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum; and much more.
“What I love about Family Weekend is that ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs get to showcase their life on campus,” said Liz Walsh-Treviño, Miami’s director of orientation and transition. “We recognize that their families don’t get to be with them day to day, so we really love to see ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs taking their families around, showing them their favorite places on campus, where they study, and where their classes are. That’s a very important part of Family Weekend, in addition to some of the fun stuff we have planned.”
The helps keep everything organized with a schedule, visiting and parking details, and frequently asked questions.
Walsh-Treviño described the app as a “one-stop shop” for Family Weekend.
“There are a lot of good resources with more information about the events and the Oxford area,” Walsh-Treviño said. “It’s a mobile-friendly version of what is happening that weekend. It’s the easiest and most robust way to get the information.”
Armstrong Student Center hosts the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ Center from 1-4 p.m. in the atrium on Oct. 24. Participants can have a family photo printed, receive information on the weekend, and take a look at the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ Student Foundation silent auction, which supports ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ scholarships.
One new addition in 2025 is Make Your Own Miami Merch Night, also at Armstrong Student center.
“There are several fun ways for families to spend time together,” Walsh-Treviño said. “We’re excited for everyone to join us for the weekend.”
